Hey, does anyone know where I could buy a new eco-friendly bedroom set for no more than $500.00?

Snow asked:

I’m looking for one in an asian style or antique european. I have very little money and I can’t be driving to people’s homes to look at furniture being sold in the newspaper because I don’t have a car… but I desperately need to get my home and life organized and so I need furniture to do that. I can’t have goodwill bring anything in because the last time I tried that they were so astonished by my home; my mom is a pack-rat… and I am not going through that again! Lastly, I would just really prefer it to be eco-friendly because I care about the environment and I have also read that eco-friendly furniture is better for your health. Please help… Thank you!

Are Mr. Clean Magic Eraser cleaning pads the best little invention since Velcro?

I discovered that they worked better than anything else for cleaning the shower. Then I was washing the car the other week and decided to try them on some of the antique bugs stuck, some of whom had been dead on the front of the car for years! And wouldyabelieve they wiped right off!
If that isn’t amazing enough, the next time I was in the market I noticed that they’ve added a “heavy duty” version. Probably take the paint off the car!

Why is the price of some collectibles so much less than 10 years ago?

I found a McCoy touring car cookie jar in my mom’s estate. I consulted two of Kovel’s antique price guides. In the 1995 edition, the price of this item was set at $80. In the 2007 edition, the price had fallen to $29 for the same thing. What’s going on?

Do moving companies charge by the pound and by distance?

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009
knowyourself asked:

May be moving, not sure. Trying to plan ahead re which items would be too heavy and costly to move, what to take, and what to get rid of or sell.

Does anyone know what in general the movers charge per pound? It would be from AZ to NC. Thinking the fridge, w/d, the adjustable bed, and the trundle bed may be better to sell or donate. They were kind of expensive, but are those things just too heavy?

Some furniture we already know we are not taking and some we definitely will. Nothing antique or irreplaceable, or highly expensive, but some decent pieces.

And we have lots of books and music, which we will thin out, but want to take most of that b/c it is hard to replace. Is it realistic to take these?

Thanks in advance for any insights. Not yet ready, obviously, to call the companies and figure out who would be best. The last time I moved any distance, everything fit it the car. :)
